San Pedro de Macorís’ Robinson Cano linked to Biogenesis too?

Robinson Jose Cano Mercedes was born on October 22,1982 in the beachfront community of San Pedro de Macorís of the Dominican Republic. Home of 70 MLB players, San Pedro de Macorís is often referred to as,” The Cradel of Shortstops”.

An American dream came true for, MLB New York Yankee, Robinson Cano on Nov 13, 2012, via Twitter @RobinsonCano said, “Very proud day for me, I just became a US citizen. God bless America!” A hero to many for his American patriotism, being one of the best second basemen in the majors, being a four time All Star, and being from San Pedro de Macorís Cano may now have his career wrapped in a drug scandal.

The eight season Yankee, Cano is now connected to the Biogenesis scandal involving performance enhancing drugs. Speculative at best, this doesn’t seem to be a problem for Yankee owner, Hal Steinbrenner, who is reportedly interested in discussing signing Cano. Becoming a free agent this winter, Cano, batted .313 with 33 home runs, 94 RBIs and a team-high .929 OPS in 2012. Notably one of the top 5 players in baseball, the Yankees are paying Cano approximately $15 million this season; it is in their best interest to make sure their golden boy remains clean and with the team in 2014.
